With abundant reserves of coal, power generation is bound to be a priority. Odisha is also on the way to becoming a major energy supplier to the grid at the cost of environmental quality.
There are already several initiatives to promote renewable energy, reduce Transmission & Distribution (T&D) losses and promote energy efficiency in the state. All these efforts become much more important in the climate change context.
