Cyclothon Rally and World Environment Day Celebrations in Rourkela
Rourkela: A harmonious blend of passion, action, and environmental consciousness swept through the city of Rourkela, leaving an indelible mark on its streets and in the hearts of its residents. The Cyclothon Rally, a dynamic initiative led by Govt ITI Rourkela, supported by Climate Warrior Rourkela, and sponsored by SwitchOn Foundation, took center stage in the World Bicycle Day & World Environment Day celebrations.
The Cyclothon Rally, a vibrant event with the rallying cry of “Pedal to Beat Plastic Pollution,” aimed to address the urgent issue of plastic waste in our environment. Led by the enthusiastic team from Govt ITI Rourkela and supported by Climate Warrior Rourkela, the rally created a wave of awareness and motivated individuals to take concrete steps towards a greener future.
Under the guidance of Naresh Behara, Founder of Climate Warrior Rourkela, the rally participants embarked on a mission to educate the public about the various types of plastic waste and the importance of proper segregation and recycling. Naresh Behara’s expertise and commitment to environmental advocacy inspired the participants to become catalysts for change within their communities.
The rally, marked by a sea of enthusiastic cyclists, embarked on a journey through the streets of Rourkela, collecting trash and raising awareness among the public. Armed with the knowledge and determination to combat plastic pollution, the participants showcased their commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment.
In conjunction with the Cyclothon Rally, the World Environment Day celebrations on June 5th brought together Govt ITI Rourkela staff. A special workshop was conducted, focusing on the creation of seed balls and eco bricks, innovative solutions to address environmental challenges. This hands-on session empowered the participants with the knowledge and skills to contribute actively to environmental conservation.
Sasmita Mohapatra, Zonal Change Leader at Tata Strive and Co-founder of Climate Warrior Rourkela, played a pivotal role in leading the workshop. Her dedication to promoting sustainable practices and environmental consciousness shone through as she guided the participants in creating seed balls and eco-bricks. The pledge made by all attendees to incorporate these eco-friendly practices into their daily lives reinforced their commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.
